Carowinds

Brian took the day off and we headed to Carowinds as a family. For those of you who don't live locally, Carowinds is technically in both North Carolina AND South Carolina. The park actually runs right through the boarder. Even though we only live 45 minutes from the boarder, there is no good way to get to the theme park, so we have to drive up into NC, like we are going to Charlotte, then we have to head south again like we are going back to Columbia, SC. Its so annoying.

Anyway, we go once a year as a family. Brian can get discount ticket through work.

This year, we made the executive decision not to include Jayce in our outing. Although this may sound kinda mean to some, it really was the most un-cruel decision. First of all, Jayce had a HORRIBLE time last year. The sights, the sounds, the smells... way too much for him with all his sensory issues. Also, he LOVES hanging out with my mom. Thirdly, he needed a break from Jaina (and vice versa). 4th, he didn't even know what he was missing. Maybe next year we can chance it again, but only if we know he can handle it.

We brought Jayce back a "Baby Jaguar" stuffed animal from the Diego store and he loves it. He had a great day with my mom and with Monica.

  2. Need I say that Elliott also loves Baby Jaguar? At the Trader Joe's in our town, they hide a stuffed animal jaguar all around for the kids to find - they named him Coba. For the first few months, Elliott called him Baby Jaguar. I could not really argue.

  3. Okay, you are SO not mean. That is called smart. Why torture him and you? you made it a win-win for everyone! looks like fun.

  4. Oooooo....I love the new look of your blog (I've been doing the Google Reader thing, so I'm not sure how long you've had this "new look."). I am so not a "design" person, but I'd like to polish up my blog a bit. Any suggestions? Did you pay someone to help, or did your programmer hubby help? Or are you one to say: "I am woman. Hear me roar and design websites and take killer photos and raise two beautiful children"?

On a completely different note, I need advice or rather emotional support. Baby Rae has been biting me every single time I try to nurse her. It hurts, but I try again. Then she pushes me away. I'm feeling so sad and rejected. I'm pumping in case this is only a strike, but I fear it may be something worse (plan to post something about it soon). Have any advice for a mommy who's hurting in more way than one?

  5. Jessie, your photos make me want to go to Carowinds so badly!! I love Ricochet; it's my favorite. Guess we'll probably wait and go next summer when Braewyn is fully walking/running, etc. and can really enjoy things. Great decision leaving Jayce with your mom. Both your kids are sweeties, but I'm definitely in favor of giving each a special treat of their own liking. I love taking Philip out for a mommy-son date to the movies or whatever.
