Daylight Savings Time

GRRR....

I'm not a fan of DST whatsoever. Even before I became a mom and had kids' schedules to worry about, I didn't like it. It drives me absolutely batty that our lives are so dependent on a clock. I really wish it wasn't and I strive to live our day-to-day life on a routine, not a fixed schedule. Why should a clock tell us when its time to eat and sleep and learn? Shouldn't we eat when we get hungry, sleep when we get tired, do work when we get motivated (which we would have more motivation if we were well-rested and well-fed), and take every opportunity to learn?

But alas, our modern lives are very dependent on time. Stores open at 10 AM, school starts at 7:40 AM, Brian doesn't get home from work until 7:00 PM. Not much I can do about it.

I found it very aggravating this morning to think about these things. We pulled out of our driveway at 7:00 AM, but feeling very much like 6 AM. The sun didn't rise until almost 8 AM this morning. I personally think we should stay in bed until the sun comes up every day :) Who's with me??? :P

  1. Absolutely! I agree with you whole heartedly on the sleeping till the sun rises. I can't function in the morning when it's dark outside.

  3. I agree, thats what the sun is for, to wake us up! The only time we don't need clocks is when we are infants nursing on demand and sleeping whenever we want.

I'm with you on that time/schedule thing. We are slaves to the clock! Em gets a sticker for her chart every morning that she stays in bed until the sun comes up. It works like a charm! Unfortunately Jake doesn't get that concept yet.

I wish - I am at work at 6am! I love being home by 4:30 though. Plus, I get to miss a lot of traffic by leaving so early.

  6. On behalf of your DST comments, I will cherish this time for you as we do not have school yet and I am thrilled that my kids are actually sleeping until 7:45am these days instead of waking up around 6:30am. Please don't hate me for it! BTW, your blog background it great! And I really like The Girl, The Boy and The Dog!
