New Year's Resolutions

I normally don't make New Year's Resolutions, but I need to this year!

Here's what I'm hoping I can accomplish.

1. Making it through the end of my Pilates DVD. I love it, and I was consistent for about a month. Then I slacked. I want to do this. Every day.

2. Stop yelling. I consider myself an Attached Parent, so I don't ever spank my kids or physically punish them in any way. But I know yelling (my weak point) is just as bad, if not worse. By the end of the day, the littlest thing sets me off. I don't know where my patience went! So, I'm resolving to work on this. No yelling at all. Instead, I will get down on their level, and ask them to obey me in a calm voice. After all, I don't like getting yelled at either. Why would they?

3. Stop cooking from a box. I did this in 2008 and it was great! I don't know what happened in 2009. My laziness came while my patience left! No more pasta roni, rice-a-roni, velvetta shells and cheese, hamburger helper, etc. Just fresh stuff and fresh ingredients.

4. Save money for Christmas next year. I did this in 2009 but stopped in the summer. I am going to keep going this time! $20 a month is my goal.

All in all, 2009 was a GREAT year for us. We might have had more sickness than usual for us, but no one was seriously ill. We might not be rich, but for the first year ever, we aren't living just two paychecks away from being broke. Brian absolutely loves his job. The kids love their schools. Jayce's progress this year has been amazing. We have such a dedicated team of therapists that work with him.

Probably the worst thing that happened in 2009 was that our good friends moved 5.5 hours away. BUT, we've been so blessed to see them each and every month since then! And they are coming by tomorrow, so we are super excited!!

See, there is always a silver lining. :)

I have no idea what 2010 has in store for us, but I just can't imagine that it could get even better. I'll be more than thrilled to have my expectations exceeded!

I hope all my friends and family have a wonderful year ahead of them!

Happy New Year!!

  3. Great New Years Resolutions.

I hear you about the Yelling and the boxed foods. I didn't want to make any this year, that's why mine is so simple. being Happy can cover so many things, loving more can mean so many things and run more means exactly that, hit the pavement, sand, dirt or rocks more, not the dreadmill.

    Happy New Year xoxo

PS= If i get a job this year, I will save money too.

  5. Great New Year's goals! I am with you on the yelling. I try really hard but sometimes things are just so hectic! I'll be with you on that one this year. And getting back into more decent cooking as well.

Thanks for stopping by the blog and happy new year!

  6. I could have written your list!

If there is one thing I feel most guilty about, it's yelling when I could really just calmly but firmly state my case with the little ones. :(

Here's to ticking off everything off the New Year's resolutions list by the end of the year!

It is sooooo nice to know that I'm not the only yelling mommy! That is one of my resolutions too. No more yelling!
