Fallen off the face of the earth for a few days

Well, I didn't really. Obviously :) I did managed to come online for a few minutes here and there since the weekend. But no where the time I normally spend on APU, Facebook, and reading the 100 or more blogs I've subscribed to.

There's been several things that have prevented me from my online obession. Curious? Some of them aren't very interesting at all!

But here's what I've been up to:

- Finishing the book "Day after Night" by Anita Diamant and returning it before its 14 day due date at the library

- Starting "The Secret Life of Bees" by Sue Monk Kidd. This book has been on my queue at the library for weeks.

-Our dog Alli has been sick. I mean, really sick. Like, so sick that I thought she was hemorrhaging and we were going to have to put her down. It turns out it was pancreantitis. She is better now, but our lives have been filled with laundry and baths for her since she did not have control over her bathroom habits.

-Jayce had another evaluation at the ABA therapy place in the next town over. He was actually supposed to start his in-home therapy this morning, but miscommunication on their part has moved that back. But since I *thought* we were going to start, we spent Monday and Tuesday doing lots of spontaneous fun things that we may not have time for with his new therapy schedule.

-Jaina had a friend spend the night and play with us all day on Monday :) She had a lot of fun with her new friend!

-I got pulled over for speeding.

-A NC prisoner escaped from jail and was spotted near our house. It lead to a high speed chase that resulted in a 3 car accident about 1/2 a mile from our subdivision entrance. Police barricades, medical helicopters, and fire trucks certainly made life interesting on Tuesday morning. I had several sweet friends call me to make sure it was not my car involved in the crash. I was doing the same thing by calling all of MY friends that live down the street even closer to the accident site. Although we still don't know who the mom of 4 was that got hit, we do know that the entire family has been released from the hospital.

-I stuck around Jayce's class yesterday and talked his teacher about school options next year and his upcoming IEP meeting. Those two issues just turn my stomach into knots like nothing else can.

-Jaina's home sick with a stomach virus that started last night. 'Nuff said.

-I'm actually surprised I got this much typed before I need to check on Jaina and get Jayce on the bus!

I hope to be back online soon after things get settled here! I can't wait to catch up on everyone's blog!

Take care,
Jess

  1. When I say I am in a funk it's usually because life is busy and I just don't have any creative time for anything.

I am sorry to here abou Alli, poor thing. Sorry for Jaina too. I wish the best for Jayce.

Life gets busy at times, but everyone will eagerly wait for your return :)

How do you get one of those buttons? I see everyone with one on their blogs...thanks.

  3. I hope Jaina feels better soon. It's always tough when any of the kiddies are not feeling well.

  6. I'm so sorry to hear about your puppy! I'm glad it wasn't anything the doctors couldn't fix, though. She'll be in my prayers.

I have read "Secret Life", and you will love it. I want a review on the Anita Diamant book you just finished. I read "The Red Tent", and it's one of my all time favorites.

By the way, about your comment on my post-- I would be ok if my period didn't show up... although my DH would feel quite differently!

  9. Oh dear, I'd forgotten your dog's name was Alli! Wonder if it's too late to change the birth certificate?
