I Heart Faces: We Are Family

This photo was taken a few months ago, right before the holidays started. My dear friend and neighbor asked me to take some family portraits before one of her sons moved away to the North. It was such a learning experience for me since the only portrait experience I had prior was working at The Picture People in the mall. I felt myself leaning towards those planned posed portraits out of habit instead of interacting with my friends to get un-posed results.

Although the majority of the shoot was focused on the entire family, the granddaughter, 18 months old, certainly stole the show.

I had my heart set on taking a brand new family portrait (of my family!) yesterday, but I had 3 uncooperative players, the most vocal one being my husband, not my kids. Oh well, maybe next time!

Hop on over to I Heart Faces to check out more fabulous entries!

  1. Your family sounds like mine... I have to resort to bribes and even then, sometimes I get no cooperation. I like the limited focus on this one. It is a neat perspective of family.

  6. How nice of you to shoot for a friend. Grandkids usually are the stars, aren't they? I love all the happy smiles you captured! I am so laughing about your husband not wanting to participate in the shoot! Silly boys.
