Before and After: Jayce in Tucker

Its been forever since I've had time to participate in a blog hop or meme! And although I have 10 or so posts waiting in line to be published, I'm going to be naughty and play along instead of playing catch up like I should.

So, go make your own post and link up with Monica at Pixel Perfect!

This picture was taken a few weeks ago at my Dad's house in Tucker, GA. The kids had gotten dressed up for Sunday morning church (a rare occurrence that usually only happens in Georgia).

I used my Canon Rebel Xti and my 50 mm prime lens at f/1.8. I'd have to go back to look at the shutter speed, but I'm pretty sure my ISO was at 200.

Anyway, I almost always sharpen my photos. I just don't get the sharpness with my lens that I would like. Nor do I have the $$ to upgrade to the 1.4 or the 1.2.

Then, instead of playing with color, saturation, and skin tones, I wanted to see what it would look like with the absence of color. Instead of using the traditional B&W color filter, I used a white tint instead. I did not bring any color back in.

This was done with the simple Picasa 3 program. Before anyone can comment and recommend photoshop and lightroom to me, I have to let you know that we are a Linux family and do not own computers that accommodate adobe software. When I get rich, a laptop with photo editing software will be the first thing I buy :)

Here's the after:
But, I'm biased. He's my son. I think they are both cute :)
