Get Pin-spired! February

I fully admit how fashion-challenged I am. I have been a long-time admirer of several moms both here on the internet and around my local town that always seem "put together". These moms have just as many kids as I do, yet they find time to put make up on, style their hair, slap on a cute outfit, and throw some accessories to go with it.

What am I normally wearing?
-Jeans
-t-shirt (short sleeve in summer, long sleeved in winter)
-black clogs
-hoop earrings
-hair in a ponytail

So that's why I've decided to take part in "Get Pin-spired" hosted by The Larson Lingo.

I forget that I am even on Pinterest. I think I average 1-2 pins a month. That's how often I remember to even log on and look around.

Now I have a new mission....

This is the first outfit that I pinned:

I was super excited to see this because I have a mustard (goldenrod?) colored top just like that one! (J. Crew, but from a consignment shop!) I didn't have a blue cardigan, though. I set out to find one at Goodwill.

The cardigan was a bit more "grandmotherly" than I had wished for. I told my mom that this sweater would now belong to her.

The other problem with this outfit was the fact that it was 37 degrees out this morning. I froze my little tooshie off taking this picture. I immediately headed inside to change. BRRR!!

This is the second outfit I pinned:

Except that my stripped sweater was gray and black, not black and white. And my scarf was off-white, not beige.

I didn't feel comfortable wearing brown boots and a white scarf with my black and gray sweater. So I opted to change it up and coordinate my grays together.

After looking at my lcd screen, I realized that I actually liked the first combo better. I guess the people that coordinate outfits on Pinterest really do know more than me :)

Then I was a goof and left my scarf and gloves (that I later put on) at my son's school.

A new spin on an outfit certainly won't change my personality :)

I hope you'll join in!

  1. You picked awesome inspiration outfits. I love the mustard with navy combo. I wouldn't have thought of it on my own but I love it.

I completely understand how you were feeling about the brown and black combo, but it seems the fashion people say it's okay. It's still hard for me to let that sink in though.

  9. You look great! I know what you mean...I typically am wearing gym clothes and a ponytail myself. It just seems like whenever I get dressed up someone spills something on me. Haha!

  10. I am definitely fashion challenged as well, but I think you put together some really cute combos here!

  11. Hahaha! Your "normal" outfit is my normal outfit, too. I am happy to live in jeans + whatever. In the winter, I wear boots with jeans; in the summer, clogs. In the summer, I chuck the jeans for capris and flip flops. :)
