23 Months

Jocelyn turned 23 months the day after Christmas.

I don't know if it was the presents or the candy or the hyped up excitement of the holidays, but  I could not get her to look at my camera at all. She was WAY too busy with her leaves.

"Hey Jocelyn!! Look at Mommy!! Mommy's got a leaf on her head! Isn't that funny?"

She had other plans for her leaf. And no, she did not think mommy was funny.

Her PT remarked yesterday during session, "Oh my... she's getting fast on those feet."

Um, yes. Yes, she is.

I had to run fast to get ahead of her with my camera.

I finally cornered her at the garage and engaged her in a conversation about side walk chalk.

Success!

Nothing much new is going on since her 22 month post. We are just winding down from Christmas and gearing up towards her birthday.

So far, she wants a Snoopy Cake and to have her party at McDonald's. She is nothing if not opinionated.

But she can tell me "no!" all day as long as she stays that cute :)

Christmas 2013

Christmas came and went in a huge hurry and flurry. But we managed to take the actual day of Christmas to rest, play with toys, stay in our PJs, and just enjoy family. And way too much food, but that's a story for another time.

In our house, Santa brings 3 presents and Mommy and Daddy put one under the tree. Here's what the kids got:

Jaina:

hair straightener
ihome and ipod case
spongebob imaginext playset
Brighton charm bracelet (from us)

(opening Christmas PJs from P.S. on Christmas Eve)

She also received two monogrammed scarves, one from Aunt Monica and one from Aunt Jami. We all got a huge laugh when she showed us the monogram upside down and wanted to know who CMB was. :)

Thank goodness she asked for at least ONE toy on her Christmas list. I'm not ready for a pre-teen that only wants electronics and make-up and clothes.

Jayce:

Diary of a Wimpy Kid books
Science kit
Beyblades
Special Edition Zelda 3DS (from us)

Opening pjs on Christmas Eve

At this point, Jocelyn had been asleep in her crib during all this ruckus. As much as I wanted us all to open presents together, I wasn't about to wake a grumpy sleepy baby. She's a mess in the morning if she doesn't wake up on her own accord.

She finally joined us and the first thing she saw was her Cozy Coupe.

Jocelyn:

Big Mickey Mouse Stuffed Animal
Mickey's Fly and Slide Clubhouse
Little People Klip Klop Stable
Cozy Coupe (from us)

Opening PJs the night before:

She managed to stuff that Big Mickey in that little car with her. I barely got any pictures of her in Christmas pajamas because she had to immediately put on the MInnie Mouse shirt my mom gave her for Christmas.

The Klip Klop stable was a huge hit, too.

She loved her Mickey Clubhouse, too, but had a hard time opening the chute and door for them to slide down. I think she'll have the strength to do it on her own soon.

As per tradition, Gray came and stayed with us.

We got my mom a new toaster oven since hers conveniently died the week before Christmas. She was going to get a vacuum cleaner, but silly Grandma went out and bought one herself before we could!

This is the second year we made Christmas Tree pancakes. Thanks pinterest!

I then proceeded to make a HUGE Christmas Day lunch. Roasted turkey breast, veggies, homemade mac n' cheese, green bean casserole, crescent rolls, mashed potatoes, gravy.

And it was just us. Brian, me, my mom, and three picky kids. As Brian was boxing up 75% of the food that was leftover, he made the statement that next year we "would just go to Cracker Barrel instead". I'm holding him to that!

Overall, it was a great Christmas :)

Now to go put all our stuff away....

22 Months

um. Let's just pretend that I wrote this post on November 26th. And that I'm not 4 weeks behind on blogging. Or that I just took her 23 month pictures about 4 hours ago. Or that she'll be celebrating her 2nd birthday in exactly one month. Let's just pretend that none of that is true.

Cause  that would mean that I'm a slacker mom who is about to have a 2 year old and not a baby anymore.

Oh, wait.

Okay, let's just celebrate how stinkin' cute my then 22 month old was.

The month of November was a good one for Jocelyn.

She continued to practice her walking skills. This time, with a cookie in hand. Her love for cookies and all things Cookie Monster was a yummy phase. I love cookies, too, so I could hardly blame her for asking for them.

In PT, she continued to work on walking. You would think that once she took her first steps, she'd be all done with therapy. But nope. Now she's got to learn how to walk around and over obstacles. How to walk on uneven surfaces. Up inclines. Back down again. Her big goal is to master stair climbing. She's still has a lot of work to do on building her muscles.

As you can see, she still holds her hands up for balance as she toddles around. I think its super cute. I know she won't do this for much longer. One day she will be able to walk with her hands by her sides.

What she does not physically accomplish, she makes up with in speech. That girl can talk! And boy does she have an opinion. "NO! MOMMY DO THAT! JAYCE STOP! NO, JAINA! GO TO WORK DADDY!" is pretty much what she says all the time. Oh, and she's got the whole possession thing down. "That's Jaina's. Here ya go, Jayce! That's Mommy's phone. NO! THAT's MINES! JOCELYN'S!!!" The "mines" part kills me every time. Even when she's screaming no at me.

She will randomly decide that she wants to hug and kiss someone. But it has to be on her terms. Jocelyn will repeat the words, "I love you" but doesn't say them spontaneously yet. She tells me every day that she loves me in other ways. Like when she looks at Brian and says, "No! Mommy's baby!" as she pats her chest.

Jocelyn loves to play with her 15 stuffed animals but has little interest in dolls. She feeds her Cookie Monster play plastic cookies and strolls her Mickey and Minnie dolls in the stroller. She gives them hugs and kisses and tells them "night night" when they go to bed.

In order to go to sleep, she must have the following:
-Cookie Monster
-Elmo
-Pink Minnie Mouse
-Red Minnie Mouse
-Singing Minnie Mouse
-Talking Minnie Mouse
-Little Mickey Mouse
-Big Mickey Mouse
-Santa Mickey Mouse
-Snoopy with Black ears
-Snoopy with Pink Ears
-both Monkeys
-Blue Puppy from Blues Clues

Yep, that's 15. Since she sleeps in a mini crib, not even a full sized crib, there is hardly even room for her. But she does not want to sleep in her toddler bed, she says. "No! Crib!" is her answer when I ask her. Whatever.

My favorite words that come out of her mouth are "Cuddle mommy couch?" That is something I love to do :)

Pre-Christmas 2013

I call anything "Christmasy" related, but not pictures taken on the actual Christmas Day, "Pre-Christmas". We were so busy this December that we will actually have to do a little "Post-Christmas" instead. We still have to go to Roper Mountain to see the lights. Use our Chimney Rock passes, too. And possibly a trip to the Children's Museum for the fake snow.

I'm not worried. We've got time :)

Here's a little Pre-Christmas at the Walker House:

 Our Tree

We brought a little Disney home with us
 My favorite Willow Tree

Jocelyn bangs on the keys and sings, at the top of her lungs, "O Christmas Tree! Jingle Bells!"

My Santa Bank from the 1980's

Our Little People Nativity. Minus the Virgin Mary that was eaten by the dog.

And the very thing that started Jocelyn's Snoopy Obsession...

Glittery Pinecones

Christmas Books

Watching Mickey Mouse on TV

Best of Both Worlds: Peanuts and Disney

And I finally convinced her to sit in front of the tree...

And not to leave Jaina and Jayce out...

Jaina's first Middle School Choir Concert

She received flowers from her daddy, who had to work late and missed it.

Jayce had a speaking part in his 3rd grade musical "Crazy Christmas"

He was also a dancing elf in one musical number, but he was hidden behind the chorus the entire time!

I am so thankful that Christmas is finally here. We have spent the day in our pajamas, watching TV, and just enjoying each other.

Merry Christmas!!
