Rock Star

My girl was a rock star today.

After FOUR years of playing soccer, she finally scored her first GOAL today!!!

And not one,  but TWO!!!

That's gotta feel good! A definite ROCK STAR moment in her life!

(I was a horrible mom and missed taking pictures of either goal, though. I told her she would just have to do it again at her next game!)

Two Months

Who authorized THAT to happen?

Isn't she supposed to stay little forever since she's my last?

Look at how much she's grown already...

(I'll have to learn how to fix color discrepancies by the time I go and print these! Same blanket, same time of day, and same setting on my camera, but two totally different colors!)

At two months, Jocelyn is:
-nursing about every 2 hours
-sleeping from 8 PM-6 AM without waking to nurse
-likes to be swaddled when sleeping
-doesn't really like her pacifier all that much
-takes a bottle just fine
-likes to stroke my hand or shirt when she nurses on my left side
-will coo at you when you ask her to talk to you
-reaches for toys and bats at them, but can't really grab hold much yet
-holds her head up pretty well
-smiles an awful lot :)
-weighs 11 lbs, 8 oz at her check up today
-was 23 inches long
-loves mommy best to hold her

I am SO proud of my son.

This is the first time he's asked to play a sport that had nothing to do with tagging along with his sister. Even when he found out he wasn't going to be on his friend's team, he still couldn't wait to play. (And luckily, they don't have to play against each other!)

I'm so incredibly proud of how well he played. He truly gave it his all. He paid attention when he was in the outfield (for the most part). He waited patiently for his turn to bat. He watched for signals on when to run to the next base. I've never seen him run so fast from 3rd base to home!

The entire team played, well, like a team. I was so impressed with the team work they displayed. We are pretty used to dealing with ball hogs in past soccer and basketball seasons. This was a refreshing change!

Want to see my boy in action?

Stepping up to the plate...

Strike One!

Trying again...

Run, Jayce, run!!

Made it to third base...

(luckily he has not learned how to slide into home plate yet. Many, many of his fellow teammates did that, even when it wasn't necessary!)

At the end of the game, his coach gave away two "game day balls" to players on the team. Jayce got one of them.

It was an awesome day! I can't wait for more games!

Buzz Buzz

So, I have had this pretty hairy husband since Christmas...

All I gotta say is "YUCK!" I am just not attracted men with facial hair.  Brian knows this. He doesn't care. I remind him of this every time I cut my hair short since he is only attracted to women with long hair.

I finally convinced my boys that Spring is here early and here to stay. Off with the hair!

Jayce hasn't had a buzz cut in almost 2 years! I love his long hair and hated to see it go. But he wanted to look just like his daddy :) And having a buzz cut in the Spring and Summer really makes sense. Now his swim goggles won't get caught in his hair like last year!

My twins:

We often call Jayce "Mini Brian". It goes sooo much deeper than just looks, believe me!

Spring Soccer

Wait a minute...

Didn't we JUST get done with basketball?

Oh well, no rest for the weary! Saturday was the kick off to our Spring Soccer season. (Jayce has been practicing baseball for the past month and he'll have his first game this upcoming weekend!)

Jaina's best friend Sarah is on her team again and she couldn't be more thrilled.

Despite having several lovely people offer to hold Jocelyn,

she was a little "Miss Fussy pants" and just wanted her mommy. Soccer happened to fall right smack in the middle of her nap time and she would have much preferred to be home and in her co-sleeper. She slept for about 30 minutes in the mei tai carrier, but that was it.

I haven't quite figured out how to nurse in my Maya wrap yet so I'm far from "hands free" when nursing. That made it extremely difficult to get pictures of Jaina's game in action when I have to have both hands to manually focus and adjust my light meter. I would have made Brian help, but he had to take Jayce to baseball practice 15 minutes after her game started.

I did get these couple of pictures before the game began:

They were eating green slushies in honor of St. Patrick's Day :)

More sports blog posts to come in the next few weeks! Our Saturdays will be filled with baseball and soccer! I hope Jocelyn learns to nap on the road!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Don't forget to:

Find a four-leaf clover
Eat corned beef and cabbage
Drink a Guinness!

(We're leaving Jocelyn with a sitter for the first time tonight! GULP! Let's hope she does well for her grandma! At least if she cries the entire time, we can still count on grandma to come back!)

Oh, crafty people.... how I both envy you and love you.

I especially love my friend Corey. There are very few people in the world that put 110% of themselves into their friendships. But Corey does. She remembers details that most people would think inconsequential. If you have a problem, she helps you work out a solution. She's quick to share her vast knowledge of everything with you, too. And I mean everything. I don't think there's anything that Corey can't do. She gardens, cooks, crafts, sings, and parents in a way that is always an inspiration :)

So, my crafty friend made an owl taggie blanket a few weeks ago for sale. I casually mentioned that I'd be interested in buying it, as did several of my friends on our parenting board. But none of us were fast enough... she sold the beautiful blanket in less than 2 hours after posting it online.

Wasn't I surprised when I opened my mail box today?

Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket But that wasn't all... Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Jocelyn already loves them :) Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Photobucket Thank you, Corey. We will treasure them always :)

Who's got your bone?

Doggie, doggie,

Who's got your bone?

Somebody took it...

from your home!

Can you believe that Jayce had never played this game before? I remember playing it in pre-school and kindergarten when I was a little girl... except we used a chalkboard eraser for the "bone". My kids have never seen a huge green or black chalk board in school or had the privilege of "clapping erasers".

I think everyone had a good time :)

Tummy Troubles

Is it just me...

or has my newborn grown way too fast?

I feel like over the last week or so she has lost her "newborn" look and has chunked up in her face, arms, and legs. Rightfully so, since this girl loves to eat!

Although she is smiling in all these photos and is typically a happy baby, she continues to be plagued with gas. She acts very uncomfortable while nursing. She is very hard to burp and has to stop during feedings several times to try to get some air out. And when she does, her belching seems to rock the house! She then gets the hiccups after she's done nursing. She also blows a ton of spit bubbles.

Any advice?

In the back of my mind, I have not ruled out Silent Reflux even though Jayce's symptoms seemed 10x worse. (For example, she loves to nurse and does it all the time, unlike her brother did. And she sleeps GREAT for a 6 week old, also unlike her big brother did).

Speaking of sleep, I'd better hop to it! Its Day Light Savings time (ugh!) and 5:30 6:30 is going to come very early tomorrow!
