Oh, pretty!

If you follow me on Instagram, you will have already seen several snapshots of Jocelyn sitting on my bed, legs covered with headbands, hair bows, and barrettes.

She just loves to "be pretty" as she calls it. She carefully selects her bow and puts it on and says, "Oh... .pretty!"

But she doesn't put it on her head.

oh, no. Hair bows go on your feet and legs. Didn't you know?

Sometimes I can sneak a bow or two in her hair without her noticing...

It doesn't last long, though!

Playing "Pretty" can entertain her for a solid 30 minutes. Long enough for me to cook dinner some nights :)

And its always a fun surprise to pull back my covers before bed and find more lost bows :)

19 months

19 months. Now closer to her second birthday rather than her first.

She has a host of favorites. Of likes and dislikes. This girl is Opinionated with a capital "O".

Coloring is number one on her list right now.Followed closely by popping bubbles and stealing brother's baseballs.

Dora the Explorer has fallen to the wayside of Wonder Pets and Blues Clues and Bubble Guppies.

Green beans and Blueberries are out. Peas, Carrots, and Pineapple are in.

I tried to take away that last nighttime bottle this past month. It did not go well. So, I'm going to continue being the lazy mom and just let you have it. I remind myself that I nursed your brother and sister way past this age and a bottle before bed will not hurt you in Kindergarten.

Dislikes: diaper changes, nap time, bed time, bath time, and your brother kissing you too much. "Stop!" is a new word in your vocabulary.

So is "Let's go!" And you are trying your hardest to walk.

Big Sister is super handy to have around.

The way Jocelyn says "Momma!" warms my heart every time. She says it with surprise and excitement all in one. Like she is running through a field to me with her arms outstretched. Even if she is sitting next to me on the couch.

When she can't find Brian since he's at work, she looks out the back window for him (assuming he's mowing the lawn) and in our bedroom (thinking he's sleeping) or upstairs (working on a computer). "Da da?" Yet, Da Da is old news when he gets home from work and she seldom has a hug or a kiss for him.

We purchased some baby knee pads the other day to gear up for Fall Sports. This way she can crawl on the baseball and soccer fields without scraping up knees and ruining pants. I wish we had gotten these a year ago! But who knew we'd have a crawler for almost a year?

Maybe Little Miss will change her opinion on walking soon and decide she likes it better than crawling :) We can hope!

Happy 9 Years to us!

On July 31st, Brian and I celebrated our 9th Anniversary together. Wow, I can't believe that next year will be our 10th! Or that I've put up with his gooficity (a Brian made up word) as long as this!

Normally we head to Chimney Rock for our anniversary weekend and leave the kids for 24 hours with my mom. However, I don't like leaving nursing babies, so we've missed a couple of years to this.

I was all set to book our Bed and Breakfast reservation when Brian came home from work with an even better idea...

How about an all-expense paid trip to Grove Park Inn during the 3rd week in August?

So we just went out to dinner with our kids instead on our actual anniversary. Nowhere special. Just Applebee's!

Less than a month later, we were on our way!

We hardly ever drive the convertible anymore so I had forgotten how fun it is!

Grove Park Inn was very beautiful, but also much older than I expected.

Our room was in the original building. You had to take a small caged elevator to reach our floor.

I'm not gonna lie... there was a bit of "The Shining" vibe going on here.

Then I found out that Grove Park Inn is haunted by a ghost named the Pink Lady. She fell from a window in room 545 to her death.

We were lucky enough to be right across the hall.

The elevator operator said that sightings have been viewed in our room and in 540. Um, great. Thanks for that.

When we first got there, I had to head downstairs for my Spa appointment. I have never been to a spa in my life. It was surreal. I don't think I will ever get the experience again since I don't think I can justify the price tag that comes with it! But my 80 minute massage was heavenly. And it was all paid for, so that was really nice!

Everyone got a rose after their treatment :)

The sun was pretty low by then, so I took my 24mm f/2.8 and walked among the grounds out back.

Then Brian's company had a cocktail hour and buffet dinner for us outside on the terrace.

We had a great time!

But I was anxious to get back to this cutie pie :)

Who now has a Blues Clues obsession. Move over Dora!

Instagram Photo Dump: Last week of Summer

We had a lot of fun to cram in the last week (and a half!) of Summer vacation!

We had lunch with Daddy, not once, but twice! And one time it was in his company's cafeteria :) It's always super exciting to visit Daddy at work!

Our last trip to our beloved Taco Bell. Now Taco Bell Fridays are considered "date lunches" since we only have Jocelyn with us.

Then we headed to ATL to visit Dad and Kim. I've already posted the Six Flags pictures from the trip!

My kids have never hiked up Stone Mtn before. Well, Jaina did it one time when she was 3 months old, but I am sure she doesn't remember :) Every time we go to Stone Mtn, they ask if we can hike up it. I was determined to do it this time!

Um, yeah... we lasted all of 1/4 of a mile. The rain had finally stopped and it was very hot and very humid. Jayce was tired and said his legs couldn't walk anymore. Jaina was giving me attitude. My back isn't used to the Kelty metal frame back pack and was already starting to hurt. So, this is one thing we didn't accomplish. This time :)

We opted to head over to the Barn of Fun and hang out in air conditioning instead. Jocelyn LOVED the barn of fun this time! She's a great age for it!

Actually, Jocelyn was just a great age for Grandma and Grandpa's house period. She did fine on the stairs (Only to fall down ours as soon as we got home!) and called my dad "Pop Pop" the entire trip.

Once back home, we did the mad rush for back to school shopping and meet the teacher.

Congratulations, Hannah, on your very first teaching job! You picked the BEST school in the district to work in!

Jocelyn was coloring with her friend Riley :)

One last fling at the park:

And just like that, the big kids were back at school.
