Aunt Diane

I was feeling pretty bummed about my entire family being down in Florida for the holidays.... everyone except the Walker crew. And honestly, with all the constant sickness and maladies myself and my children have had since October, its probably a good thing that we *didn't* end up going, but it still doesn't make me sad to miss. And we also had to miss a good friend from college's vow renewal on NYE because of logistics, so my mood has been regretful, to say the least.

Then, my mom gets a call from my Aunt Diane, my favorite aunt who lives in West Palm Beach, FL. Not to discredit my other wonderful aunts, but my Aunt Diane and I are very close, so that automatically makes her my favorite. She was always such a good parenting example to me (along with my own mom) and is a propionate for natural birth (her sis is a midwife!), extended breastfeeding, and the family bed. I guess you can say that she was one of my first experiences with those specific parenting styles.

Anyway, the bad news is that my Aunt would be 1 hr 15 minutes away from us while she attended a funeral for an elderly family member (not my side of the family). The good news is that she was only 1 hr and 15 minutes away, so the kids and I packed up in the car, picked up my mom, and drove to Clemson to go see her on Monday night. Jayce didn't feel well the entire evening, but he was a trooper and made it through. We ate at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant and had a nice time chatting. Jaina was happily spoiled by her great aunt who decided she deserved a little bracelet at the store :) It was so good to see her.

  1. I love Diane. She is a natural beauty with a kind heart and beautiful energy. She is what I look up to as an exceptional mother.

I am so glad you got to see her. I am totally bummed that we missed her on that big party weekend of the 27th. Jeremy was too busy as usual and an hour drive North with two kids alone isn't feasible for me. So I am glad at least you got to see her, isn't she awesome.
