Its all how you look at it

Its definitely all how you look at it.

I mentioned, one time, that I like to only post "good" pictures of Jayce. The ones where he is looking at the camera and smiling. Pictures like those were few and far between during Oct 2006 and May 2007. That was when I described my child as a "miserable toddler" because he rarely smiled, acted like he didn't understand what was going on, and practiced his high pitched screaming 24/7.

My poor baby... now I know it was all sensory (SID) related. I wish I had known then what I know now. I wish we had had an occupational therapist back then to show us brushing and joint compressions. I wish he had been in feeding therapy right when his food issues had started, cause maybe they wouldn't be as bad as they are now.

Anyway, jayce has his first visit at Child Development Services (CDS) on Thursday. This is a diagnostic interview appointment. They will observe Jayce while getting an entire history from me. That's why I am going through old pictures today. I've also been through old videos. I can tell them with certainty when his self-stim behaviors started and his sensory issues got out of control.

To say I'm a bit nervous about Thursday is an understatement. I'll keep everyone updated.

  2. I wish I could be there with you. I knew you were nervous, just by my conversation with you last week. I could hear it in your voice. I think Jayce is a wonderful, loving, funny, SMART boy. I know he's with the right mother and you are doing the right things. I can't imagine what your going thru, but I have faith things will be okay. Just from the past few months, I can tell he's improving. I am so sorry you have to go thru the emotional roller coaster. Hugs and love-from your family in FL.

  3. P.S- You've done a great job with the pictures. You are very organized. Please don't "beat" yourself up with "what ifs". Your such a great mother.
