This One Goes Out To The One I Love

(You're welcome for getting REM stuck in your head now!)

So, in honor of Valentine's day, I thought I would flood my blog with pictures of me and my dear husband.

Except that I don't have very many.

I searched through THOUSANDS of pictures on our webserver today, as well as my hard drive. Maybe even hundreds of thousands of pictures. I didn't stop to count :)

I found pictures of me with the kids, of Brian with the kids, of me by myself (taken by one of the kids no doubt), pictures of Brian by himself. A couple of us as a family. But less than 2 dozen pictures in all of me and Brian together.

I've got to rectify this! Jaina is now at the age where I trust her with holding my DSLR and if I set the camera on program, she can hold it steady enough to snap a picture or two. Why don't I ask her to take more pictures of us together?

There is the slight problem that Brian and I aren't physically together at the same location very often. Besides our weekend activities, anything fun during the day happens when he's at work and I have my camera out.

Anyway, I've decided that my Valentine's Day Resolution (why not? Its as good a day as any!) is to have more pictures taken of me and my husband :)

Let's start tripping down memory lane, shall we?

Brian and I met on July 27th, 2001. How do I know this? Because my friend Meredith got married the next day. Thanks Meredith! Because of you, I'll always remember the anniversary of meeting my future husband as well as YOUR wedding anniversary with Chris!

This is the very first picture ever taken of us together, sometime in September of 2001. Brian set the self-timer on his camera when we were hiking at White Oak Mountain.

I was already pregnant, but had NO idea! Seriously.

Then it was time to introduce my family to Brian. This was taken by my grandma Staska the first time Brian made a trip to Tucker, GA to meet my parents. Although my Grandma Staska's mental health would soon diminish with the onset of Alzheimer's disease, she would continue to remember who Brian was, despite not knowing me or my brothers.
The next picture taken of us, by my friend Farrell who was visiting, showed me looking much more pregnant!
And there we were... a family of three, before Brian and I had even known each other a year. (By the way, I don't recommend starting a family the way we did. We were really lucky it worked out just fine and we weren't another statistic!)

For never wanting any kids, Brian turned out to be a great dad! And a pretty decent husband too :P

Soon after Jaina's first birthday, we got engaged while hiking up at Dupont Falls.
About a year later, when Jaina was just over 2 years old, we left her with Grandma and flew to St. Lucia.
And we got married.

And, while we were there, we thought we'd go ahead and try for a little brother or sister for Jaina.
Soon we were a family of 4.
This picture was taken on our first anniversary, just a few months after Jayce was born.
And for our next anniversary, we went to Lake Lure for the night.
Even though we've continued this Lake Lure anniversary tradition each and every year since, I actually do not have any more pictures of us from those trips!

After searching through our archives of digital photos, I decided then to look for any recent pictures of us together.

Here's a couple from last summer:

Then summer changed into Fall...

The day after Halloween, my good photographer friend Gena grabbed these pics of our family.

And here's us at Christmas...

And....

Here's us today, on February 14th, 2010.

And there you have it. The history of Brian and Jessie in photos.

Happy Valentine's Day!

  6. aww, I love this. Your right. I don't have any recent one's of just Jeremy and I. Not since last Valentine's Day, our last date.... an entire year ago. It's amazing Jeremy and I are still together. We are never alone, or he's never home.

I even brought our camera with us to dinner tonight and he was too hungry and the kids were playing in the game room, so the mood just wasn't right for a photo of us.

I love your wedding photos. I don't even have that. *wah wah* Okay, I am done whining now, thank you for listening. :)

    Happy Valentine's Day

  9. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful story in pics :) I knew you had a baby before I did, since I ran into Tricia in a carseat class while pregnant with James, but not the particulars. You two have had a true adventure and I am so glad that everything worked out for you both.

I was just thinking the other day that my kids will look back and think I was missing since I take all the pics. Wonderful resolution!
