A New Adventure

Just because I don't have nearly enough on my plate (MOMS Club Potluck/playgroups coordinator, Autism Support Group leader, Family Connections Family Partner, ASD playgroup organizer, LLL member... you get the idea), I've decided to actually make this "snapping random pics of people's kids" more of an organized business.

Big Gulp.

Really? Can I do this?

Friends in real life ask me to take their family's photographs all the time. But I never know if they are really serious about it or not. And then there's the whole thing about "Do I charge them? They're my friends... this is a fun hobby... Its just my pleasure..."

So I've been kinda skipping around the whole starting my own business part of my photography hobby.

Until the next thing I knew, I had 8 shoots lined up for this Fall. Wow, that's a lot of scheduled shoots for someone who's not "in business". So, I've come to the conclusion that I am going to charge a small session fee in order to help me invest in this new business attempt. I see bigger and better things in my future for my "hobby". A new camera body, new lenses, a new website, maybe a new blog? We'll just have to see.

Want to check out my very first Fall shoot?

It was very fun. And I wasn't as nervous as I thought. As I pulled up in their yard, I discovered where the light would be and just went from there. My Picture People experience helped me with posing. Mom and Dad were there to eek the smiles out of the teen  for me :) Over all, it was an awesome experience. I can't wait to do it again this weekend!

I'm glad to see the new pup is adjusting well too :) He definitely found a great home!

  7. We've got a friend here who "took the plunge" and finally started doing it for pay last year. As a friend, I'm SO GLAD. Now I can ask her to take our pics, but I get to pay her as well so I don't feel like I'm taking advantage of her. It's awesome! And just so you know, it's a year later and she's going strong... :-)
